Parents and Adolescents Living Together, Part 2: Family Problem Solving
Published in Paperback by Castalia Pub Co (July, 1989)
Authors: Marion S., Ph.D. Forgatch and Gerald R., Ph.D. Patterson
Average review score:

Improve your parenting skills, but buy both Volumes 1 and 2.
This is part 2 of a two volume set. See my review of part 1. Although some parents may lean towards buying only one, you'll learn more if you read both volumes. Much of the information in part 2 assumes an understanding of the principles discussed in part 1. Part 2 covers communication and problem solving skills and how these skills can be applied to solve sexuality, academic difficulties, drugs and alcohol use. The last two chapters provide an excellent discussion on compliance vs oppositional/defiant behavior in children. You may want to look up other books by Marion Forgatch and Gerald Patterson. They are basic researchers in the field of child psychology and behavior who take their research findings (and the works of others) and present them in nontechnical terms for parents and mental health professionals.

Personal Time Management
Published in Paperback by Crisp Pubns (April, 1994)
Authors: Marion E. Haynes, Ralph Mapson, and Michael G. Crisp
Average review score:

Practical guide for the "I don't have time" people
I was trapped in that circle. I never had the time enough and I wanted to do it all. With this book I realized that some of the work I was doing could be done by someone else. I used to expend to much time in some tasks that I thought could be worth and now I know they're not. You must have this book in your library, it has very useful aids, questionnaires that will help you find your weaknesses. I bet you'll think like me about this book.

Plain Jane (House for Seasons, Book 2)
Published in Paperback by St Martins Mass Market Paper (July, 1987)
Author: Marion Chesney
Average review score:

Much better than usual, the heroine was normal!!!
It was a pleasure to read. Jane was normal, and overshadowed by her beautiful, unpleasant older sister. But how many of us actually fall in love with our childhood crush, and they with us- so much as to want to marry us, even with our "unfashionable" upbringing? Good light reading, and more realistic than the first.

The Planet Savers (The Gregg Press Science Fiction Series)
Published in Hardcover by Gregg Pr (March, 1979)
Author: Marion Zimmer Bradley
Average review score:

An interesting story for you Darkover fans...
Nobody had reviewed this book, so I thought I would. This was one of the first Darkover books I read, and I enjoyed it very much. The Darkover books seem to vary in quality from slightly interesting to absolutely fabulous, but I'd rate this one as very good. It was first written in 1962, so it's a little dated, but the main character was interesing and it gives true Darkover fans some insights into some little-explored areas of Darkovan life.

The Prentice Hall Guide to English Literature: The New Authority on English Literature
Published in Hardcover by Hungry Minds, Inc (April, 1990)
Author: Marion Wynne-Davies
Average review score:

Great research when you can't do in-depth research
The "Guide to English Literature" is a must have for any literature student's ready reference. I personally keep mine on my desk where I can get it easily.

The guide gives you information on the major movers and shakers in English Literature as well as the great movements, works, and figures (maybe not literary, but important...like kings). While preparing for the GRE Literature in English test, I have been using this book to get a good background on the great writers. At the end of each entry, there is a small bibliography which will give you a headstart in further research should you choose to do so.

I would recommend having this book on your personal shelf for your reference. It will help you establish a bigger picture of where writers and movements have taken place and who they have affected.

The Ragged Irregulars: The 91st Bomb Group in World War II
Published in Hardcover by Schiffer Publishing, Ltd. (October, 1995)
Authors: William N. Hess and Marion H. Havelaar
Average review score:

The 91st Bomb Wing in great Detail
Marion Havelaar has combined the essential elements of an outstanding history volume. He provides excellent photography (black and white), a well written chronology, and appendices with the details of individual aircraft, missions, and crews. This is not one of those "coffee table" books. It is packed with information and it is both excellent reading and study data. There are 264 pages in this volume and Mr. Havelaar has established a detailed history from a personal, statistical and photographic perspective which make this not only informative but also a very interesting book to read. This is a must-have book for any serious fan of World War 2 bombing operations, but specifically for the famous 91st Bomb Group in WW2.

Remembering the Roses
Published in Paperback by Multnomah Publishers Inc. (June, 1998)
Author: Marion Duckworth
Average review score:

Strong sense of place;woman pursues dream after failure.
I enjoyed the gentle pace of the story, and the strong sense of place and person that develop as the story proceeds. No sex or violence, a G-rated read. Good for relaxing, but also has some thought-provoking ideas about how we find our way in the world when we are injured by death or betrayal. Success from the ashes sort of story. The author has a "visual" sense that makes her writing quite evocative. I've read other things by her and all have been well written and thoughtful.

Renunciates of Darkover (Darkover)
Published in Paperback by DAW Books (March, 1991)
Author: Marion Zimmer Bradley
Average review score:

a good selection of stories
A very readable anthology. All the stories deal with the "free amazons" but are not in any certain order, each story takes a different view. There were a couple that dealt with the begining of the order that were very well written.Hard to find but worth it.
